Does Ecclesiastes 1:4 Contradict 2 Peter 3:10? Does the earth abide forever?

Ecclesiastes 1:4

4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

2 Peter 3:10

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Will the earth abide forever, or will it eventually perish?

The New Earth

The earth will be remade, after the Millennium. It's still the earth, and the old one really does get "burned up", affirming what both passages say:

Revelation 21:1

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Similarly, Christians are going to get new bodies (Romans 8:23) at the First Resurrection (Revelation 20:4-6). Therefore, Noah Zielke will abide forever (John 11:25-26), even though the original Noah Zielke will die and be gone (1 Corinthians 15:42).
